A friend had his Yahoo email account cracked tonight and the scum bucket that took over his account, changed his password and went on to break into my friend's Facebook account. The thief is trying to con friends into sending money. Here's the email I got from my friend's Yahoo account (I removed his name).
Hi,
How are you doing? hope all is well with you and family, I know
this might be a surprise to you but I am sorry I didn't inform you
about my traveling to England for a Seminar.
I need a favor from you because I misplaced my wallet on my way to
the hotel where my money,and other valuable things were kept I will
like you to assist me with a loan urgently with the sum of $1,800 U.S
Dollars to sort-out my hotel bills and get myself back home.
I will appreciate whatever you can afford and i'll pay you back as soon as I return home,

Both Yahoo.com and Facebook.com have Security Centers on their sites with web forms to contact them. Then you have to wait to see if they do anything. When someone has taken over your email account, you lose the two way flow of information so having an alternate email account is needed for dealing with these problems.
