Small business owners will love Google Voice and not just because it's free.

The service let's you give out a single phone number, then redirect your calls to any combination of phones. Like some other Google offerings, this one is starting out, "by invitation only". But you can get on their list through his link- Google Voice .

After you receive your invitation, you select your Google Voice phone number then choose which of your existing landlines, cellphones or any combination you want your calls forwarded to. The service provides voicemail features, emails the recording to you and transcribes the audio into text.

Your outbound calls leverage cheap VOIP rates and Google picks up the tab for US calls, that are normally long distance. Google even offers a website widget for free inbound calls.

So now my buddy Bob (owner of the Allagash Lodge in northern Maine) can place his business card order with a free call to me and I'll get to hear when his backyard Brook Trout start bitin' wicked good.
